Nurse Talacquea Harper was a great post-op caretaker. She was very detailed in the follow up care, called the nurses to ensure she had all the instructions outlined, and medications scheduled. She did a thorough review of all the notes prior to the surgery date, called in the days leading up to the surgery date to go over care, was an around-the-clock caregiver, and even follow up in the week following the procedure to check on me and make sure everything was healing. I would recommend the patient have their own set of notes form the doctor to review and read all through all after care notes to ensure you are aware of your own care (not given a straw, no high sodium foods, iced packs aren’t placed directly on your skin, etc.) Being prepared will help the nurses give the best care. She made it a point to make sure I was comfortable and all of my relatives and friends were aware of my health state. She stayed with me for one night the day of surgery and brought me to my follow-up care appointment. I had a 1BR which made it difficult given lack of space and navigating pet care, but was handled as best as possible.
